Coming Home
Sometimes in life we are thrown curveballs
That jeopardise our balance and shake our equilibrium.
We feel tested and we struggle to ‘hold it all together’
We may feel our efforts are a waste of time
And for each heavy step forward
We feel thrown 2 steps back.
In these moments,
we feel alone, isolated, disconnected
Unable to share the heavy burden of our experience.
Here lies magic,
In these seemingly catastrophic moments and events,
When the world feels heavy and colourless
And when your heart starts to break and close in on itself.
For in these moments people will enter into your life
To be there as your heart heals,
As you come home to yourself.
They will be the extended hand reaching out,
The open ear and soft shoulder.
Someone to remember the goodness and joy in the world when you forget,
Someone to carry the candle when it feels dark
Someone to to hold you until your heart can open again.
It is in these moments we find home in another.
The moment the heart is held as it’s dwindling light is restored.
Held as you come home to yourself.
********
We are social beings
As humans, we are designed to be part of a tribe
A carefully interwoven community where no man is an island.
As we flow through life together.
Walking each other home.
********
We open our hearts to ourselves,
Open our hearts to others
Because,
When our heart is open
Everything we experience
And everywhere we are
Becomes love.
Each moment becomes home.
